Understanding the EverTrust Health Share Maternity Sharing Request Process

Maternity is one of the most meaningful and important experiences for growing families, and EverTrust Health Share is designed to support members through this process with clarity and structure.

Understanding how the Maternity Sharing Request process works, and how to navigate self-pay, can help ensure a smooth experience from pregnancy confirmation through delivery and beyond.

Getting Started with a Maternity Sharing Request

As with any Sharing Request, maternity-related expenses are submitted and reviewed in accordance with the EverTrust Member Guidelines. Expectant mothers are responsible for a single Member Responsibility Amount (MRA) for all eligible pregnancy-related expenses.

The Member Responsibility Amount must be met before sharing can begin for eligible maternity-related services. Once this amount has been satisfied, eligible expenses may be shared in accordance with the guidelines.

To begin the process, the Maternity Sharing Request must be submitted within thirty (30) days of pregnancy confirmation. Early submission allows EverTrust to review eligibility, provide guidance, and support cost management throughout the pregnancy.

Members should refer to the EverTrust Maternity Guide for a complete overview of the process and expectations.

Eligibility and Waiting Periods

Maternity Sharing Requests are subject to specific eligibility requirements. Conception must occur after the membership has been active for at least thirty (30) days, and pregnancies that exist prior to membership are not eligible for sharing.

Documentation is used to confirm the date of conception and establish eligibility. Accurate information is essential, as misrepresentation may result in ineligibility for sharing.

Prenatal and Postnatal Care

EverTrust supports a range of prenatal and postnatal services as part of a Maternity Sharing Request. These services are subject to a sharing allowance of up to $6,000 per request, with an additional $1,000 available for high-risk pregnancies.

Members are encouraged to manage costs proactively by requesting global maternity packages at the beginning of the pregnancy, presenting as self-pay patients, and keeping EverTrust informed of any changes in care. Prompt submission of bills helps ensure a smooth process. The EverTrust Advocacy Team is here to assist you throughout.

Once the Member Responsibility Amount has been met, EverTrust may provide virtual debit cards to assist with payment for eligible services, including care from OB-GYNs, doulas, midwives, holistic care, and other maternity-related providers.

Delivery and Hospital Services

Medically necessary delivery services are eligible for sharing and are not subject to a sharing limit. This includes hospital labor and delivery, cesarean procedures, anesthesiology, and care provided by specialists.

Home births, multiple births, premature delivery, and maternal complications are also considered within the scope of eligible maternity services when associated with an eligible Maternity Sharing Request.

A newborn complication occurring after birth is considered a separate Sharing Request and will be reviewed independently under the Member Guidelines.

Cost Management and Member Responsibility

EverTrust encourages members to actively manage maternity-related costs by working with providers, requesting self-pay pricing, and maintaining communication throughout the process.

If total maternity-related expenses do not exceed $10,000, the Member Responsibility Amount may be reduced by $1,500, providing additional savings for members who manage costs effectively.

The Bottom Line

The EverTrust Health Share maternity process is designed to provide clarity, structure, and support for growing families. By understanding eligibility requirements, meeting the Member Responsibility Amount, and staying engaged throughout the process, members can help ensure a smooth and efficient experience.

For complete details, members should review the EverTrust Maternity Guide and remain actively involved throughout their maternity journey.
