? New to self‑pay? Here’s how to get the lowest price+

Most surgeries create up to three separate bills — the facility (the surgery center or hospital), the surgeon, and anesthesia. When you arrange payment yourself, up front, you can often pay a small fraction of what those bills would total. Here’s how to do it.

1
Call the facility first. Contact the surgery center or hospital and ask for their self‑pay (cash) price for your procedure. You’re simply a patient who will be paying directly — you don’t need to bring up health sharing at this stage.
2
Ask to prepay in full. Tell them you’d like to pay the entire cost up front, before the procedure. Paying in advance is what unlocks the lowest cash price.
3
Ask what’s included. Sometimes the facility bundles the surgeon and anesthesia into one price; sometimes those are billed separately. Ask them to tell you which, so you know whether you also need to call the surgeon’s office and anesthesia group.
4
Get a signed good faith estimate. Ask for a written “good faith estimate” of the full cost, and get it signed by both you and someone at the facility (and the surgeon’s office). A signed estimate protects you from being billed extra later — surprise charges added afterward may not be eligible for sharing.
5
Anesthesia may just bill afterward — that’s fine. Anesthesia providers often won’t prepay or give a good faith estimate; they’ll simply send a bill after the procedure. That’s normal and completely okay.
6
Send your estimates to EverTrust right away. As soon as you have your good faith estimate(s), submit them to EverTrust. Our Member Success team will help coordinate a prepayment method so the community’s shared funds can be used to pay your provider.
Two phrases do the heavy lifting: “I’d like to prepay in full” and “please send me a signed good faith estimate.”

How to read these numbers. The fair self-pay price is a real, published all-inclusive cash price from the Surgery Center of Oklahoma (surgerycenterok.com/pricing), used as a benchmark for transparent surgical pricing. The typical billed price is an estimated range for the same procedure at a conventional hospital, derived from national self-pay and cost-survey data — transparent cash prices generally run a fraction of typical billed and itemized hospital charges (sources: Sidecar Health, GoodRx, MDsave, and published procedure-cost guides). These are educational estimates, not a quote or guarantee. Actual cost depends on the facility, surgeon, your condition, and any implants or hardware (some listings note these are extra). Always confirm the full price directly with a provider before scheduling.
