What is Direct Primary Care,
and do you need it?
DPC is a different way to access your primary care doctor — no insurance middlemen, no per-visit fees. Here's what it is and how it fits with your EverTrust membership.
Primary care the way it should work
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a simple monthly membership with a primary care doctor — like a gym membership, but for your health. Instead of billing insurance for every visit, your DPC doctor charges a flat monthly fee and gives you unlimited access to primary care.
Your own doctor
A real relationship with a primary care physician who knows you — not a revolving door of providers.
Flat monthly fee
Typically $50–$150/month. No copays, no per-visit charges, no surprise bills for primary care.
Unlimited visits
In-person, telehealth, or even a text to your doctor — all included in your membership.
Includes preventive services
DPC doctors opt out of the insurance billing system entirely — your fee covers everything at the primary care level.
More time with your doctor
DPC appointments run 30–60 minutes — not the typical 7-minute rushed visit. Your doctor has time to actually listen, think, and care.
Better-incentivised care
Your DPC doctor is motivated to keep you healthy — not to see you more often. Their goals finally align with yours.
DPC vs. traditional primary care

Preventive sharing — beyond what DPC covers
Your DPC membership handles primary care. But certain preventive screenings and specialist wellness visits sit outside that scope — and outside most major medical events too. EverTrust members have access to sharing for these services without needing to first meet their Member Responsibility Amount.
Colonoscopy
Colorectal cancer screening shared up to the allowance per eligible screening event. No MRA required.
Mammography
Breast cancer screening shared up to the allowance per eligible screening event. No MRA required.
Youth Immunizations
Routine childhood immunizations shared in line with standard immunization guidelines. No MRA required.
Wellness visits with an eligible specialist — separate from your DPC doctor — are shared up to $250 per visit. These are routine wellness appointments that go beyond the scope of primary care, covering the specialists most members see for annual or preventive care.
Eligible specialist types include:
